Summary

A construction project engineer manages small groups of subcontractors and assists in the planning, directing and supervision of large construction projects. They operate as part of the overall project management team and serve as the liaison on construction projects to ensure safety and smooth operation.

Essential Functions

  • Work directly with the Project Executive, Superintendent, and Project Foreman to ensure the needs of the construction project are effectively met in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with planning, implementing and managing construction tasks in accordance with scheduled milestones.
  • Assist superintendent with managing the subcontractor workforce, including daily badging and collecting manpower logs from Subcontractor's site foreman.
  • Project engineers assist with reviewing/understanding drawings and designs before they are built/installed on the project.
  • Project engineers will learn a basic understanding of contract plans, construction specifications, subcontractor scopes, and Exhibit 3’s.
  • Complete professionally written correspondence, including daily journals, requests for information, potential change requests, non-compliance forms, meeting minutes, and emails using CMiC, our site management software.
  • Photograph daily progress using OpenSpace and upload all photos and captures into CMiC to comply with daily requirements.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Subcontractors, Owners, Architects, Engineers, and DiMarco.
  • Provide necessary status updates and assist in responding to questions from clients, subcontractors, and DiMarco leadership regarding schedule/milestones.
  • Support field team in the managing the submittal process, including collecting samples, product data, shop drawings, mock-ups, and technical data from subcontractors.
  • Comply with OSHA 30 and conduct walk-throughs of the jobsite to report any non-compliant and unsafe conditions.
  • Support the Logistics & Procurement Team in identifying potential issues with meeting project milestones/deadlines.
  • Assist the field team in completing quality control walks and creating/reviewing punch lists per contract requirements and DiMarco standards.
  • Maintain the record set of drawings "As-Built."

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to navigate entire job site, including stairs or other elevated structures.
  • Proficient knowledge for daily usage of MS Project and MS Office.

Physical Demands

  • This position involves work on construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; Duties of the job may also require employee to sit in some instances.
  • The employee must have use of their arms and legs.
  • The employee must be able to climb or balance; Bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to effectively communicate by voice as well as hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.

Education and/or Experience

  • A construction degree or equivalent experience considered.
  • Microsoft office experience preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned.
