About the role

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors (CMAC) is a leading construction firm with projects across the mid-Atlantic region. CMAC is seeking a Project Engineer to join their dynamic team in the DC Metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Produces and organizes project and professional documents consistent with Christman standards and risk management standards for the document type, ensuring team members can easily access necessary documentation.
  • Prepares project documents for close-out, turnover, and archiving to facilitate efficient final compilation and delivery on schedule.
  • Safeguards all necessary contractually required documents, such as safety programs, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) documents, insurance policies, bonds from clients, trade contractors, and suppliers before project commencement.
  • Establishes billing requirements as per contract with accounting prior to project start-up. Administers project billing according to established contractual requirements, including timely receipt of waivers.
  • Aids the Project Manager in reviewing, approving, and processing trade contractor material and supplier invoices before submission to the assigned Project Accountant.
  • Prepares budget cash flow estimates and tracks actual progress against planned project schedules, monitoring manpower requirements to meet goals.
  • Manages the Project Change process, oversees punch list items, and accurately summarizes important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Manages procurement, material tracking, inspection, and on-site storage. Oversees the Request for Information (RFI) process and ensures timely communication among all parties.
  • Updates contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensures trade contractor document updates are completed. Organizes and prioritizes submittal requirements specified in contract documents and reviews for completeness. Creates a submittal log according to Christman standards. Manages the architect submittal review process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • One (1) or more years of work experience in construction or a related job field.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
