About the Role
The Project Engineer leads engineering and process-improvement projects from concept through execution, driving efficiency, waste reduction, and quality improvements across operations. This role combines technical project management with continuous-improvement methodologies and spans all project phases—from scope development to execution—while serving as an active member of new-product teams.
Responsibilities
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Manage capital-expense projects from initial scoping through approval.
- Develop detailed project schedules and resource plans.
- Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, engineering & maintenance, safety & quality, supply chain, and packaging development).
- Provide engineering support, technical guidance, and hands-on troubleshooting during implementation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Develop and maintain project documentation (scope, schedules, budgets, technical specifications).
- Monitor project budgets, control costs, prepare estimates, and track expenditures.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards and resolve technical/logistical issues.
- Report project status to management and stakeholders; facilitate meetings and ensure team alignment.
- Collect and analyze performance data (e.g., cycle time, defect rates).
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor progress.
- Recommend and implement changes to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with teams to implement process changes; train staff on new procedures and ensure adoption.
- Document best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to sustain improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical).
- 5+ years of experience in project engineering or manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Technical problem-solving aptitude and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in CAD and project-management tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Minitab).
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and across organizational levels.
- Up to 20% travel for business-related projects.
