Project Engineer
About the Role
Join our team in Kingsport, TN as a Project Engineer at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant, where you will bridge complex engineering design and real-world execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers, fostering a collaborative environment to meet complex functional requirements.
- Drive execution by owning the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgetary goals.
- Manage partnerships as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams and external suppliers, ensuring deliverables meet rigorous standards.
- Bridge design to production by leading the commissioning process and ensuring a smooth hand-off to production teams.
- Provide strategic support by developing accurate budgetary estimates and assisting in new proposal development.
Physical Requirements
This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. You must be able to:
- Access and safely navigate production areas, including climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces.
- Comply with all requirements, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (mechanical, systems, civil, or chemical engineering preferred).
- 8+ years of related experience, including 5 years in engineering design, development, and/or commissioning.
- 2 years in an engineering technical project leadership position.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interface with various functional departments and customers.
- Ability to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD suite software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multi-million dollar plant capital sustainment or expansion projects, including industrial construction or modernization efforts.
- Experience in the chemical process industry or energetics industry.
- Experience with proposal development.
- Understanding and experience within cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) methodology and substantiating task estimates.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $108,787 – $184,937. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
