Project Engineer
About the role
Ashland Specialty Ingredients, GP is seeking a Project Manager/Engineer to join their team at the Kenedy, TX location. This role is visible and significant within the company and the manufacturing function.
Responsibilities
- Develop project plans — including scope, goals, deliverables, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets — for assigned engineering projects.
- Submit projects for approval in the plant project management system.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure all project aspects are aligned and progressing smoothly.
- Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, drawings, reports, and updates.
- Create requisitions to order all necessary equipment or components for every project and ensure goods are completed on time.
- Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and report on financial status.
- Ensure project activities comply with the applicable codes, practices, policies, specifications, industry standards, regulations, and company standards.
- Coverage and communication with multiple contractors working on the different plant projects.
- Supervise project construction phase, ensuring contractors' compliance with all safety requirements, and performing safety contractor evaluations.
- Address technical issues and project challenges, providing solutions to keep the project on track.
- Reviewing the engineering tasks assigned and initiating the necessary corrective actions.
- Participating in Process Hazardous Analysis (PHA), Combustible Dust Assessments (CDAs), Safety External and Internal Audits, and Management of Change (MOC).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related).
- Minimum of 1 year in manufacturing project engineering.
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Visio software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including project Software.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and think critically to solve complex problems.
- Prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Managing multiple people, crafts, or contractors.
- Strong written and verbal communication.

- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
