About the Role
The Project Engineer 2 assists and supports the Project Manager on assigned projects. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities, and gathers and distributes information. The Project Engineer 2 must be a flexible and adaptable team player with strong communication and client service skills.
Responsibilities
- Setup initial contracts and project information
- Coordinate various trades
- Resolve design coordination issues
- Receive, review, forward, and track the status of submittals
- Oversee & manage the RFI process
- Assist in the management of the project permit process
- Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement
- Identify long lead items and establish procurement priorities
- Update construction schedule based on project team input, Trade Contractor progress, and materials delivery
- Manage change management systems, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing quotations and change orders
- Track and inspect material deliveries
- Assist with reports regarding the financial performance of the project
- Assist in the preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required
- Attend and/or lead project meetings, as directed by the Project Manager
- Oversee timely distribution and accurate recording of all meeting minutes
- Assist and/or complete project close-out
- Communicate and enforce Manhattan’s environmental, health, and safety management policies
- Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-free environment through own actions and mentoring others
- Assist in the review of Subcontractor monthly payment applications
- Assist in coordinating punch list items and procedures
- Perform quality control inspections & oversee QPL process log
- Oversee project-specific integration of quality, closeout, photo documentation, & procurement technology software
- Conduct themselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibit attributes matching the Way We Work
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, equivalent degree, or 2 years of industry experience
Skills
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office, Procore, & Bluebeam products
- Knowledge of Manhattan document control and scheduling software
- Broad understanding of the construction industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic math/accounting skills
- Ability to function effectively as part of a team
- Dependability and ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Time management and organizational skills
- Proven ability to train and mentor team members
- Ability to read drawings and specifications for all trades/scopes

Working Conditions
- Adaptable to all types of weather conditions
- Must traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching
- Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day
- Ability to repeat the same movements
- Effective communication for meetings, video conferences, and phone calls
- Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence
- Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time
- Occasional travel may be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License)
- Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards
