About the role
The Project Employee, GDC Support Engineer will manage core functions at the Game Distribution Center in Secaucus, NJ, and remote/cloud productions, focusing on production, transport, and service workflows. This role requires expertise in multimedia infrastructure, live streaming, and media systems, including video, audio, IP, and non-linear devices.
Responsibilities
- Work with Production & Broadcast Operations to support game productions.
- Maintain and support server-based digital video and audio control systems, graphics, editing systems, and automation systems, ensuring smooth on-air operations.
- Aid in troubleshooting and managing broadcast systems and IP/network-connected equipment, such as production routers, multi-viewers, switchers, IP codecs, and Layer 2/3 network switches.
- Work closely with Remote Arena Engineers, Production, IT, Operations, and Vendors to provide support.
- Help maintain live environment for the Game Distribution Center, both on-premises and cloud-based services.
- Provide troubleshooting support for operational issues, helping maintain uptime and performance.
- Flexibility to work various shifts in a 24/7 production environment, including rotating off-hours support.
Requirements
- College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field required.
- 2+ years of broadcast media or IT experience.
- 2+ years of IP-based video streaming development experience (or equivalent).
- 2+ years of experience with supporting live broadcasts and live productions.
Qualifications
- Strong technical background in broadcast production.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and have a keen eye for detail.
- Basic understanding of broadcast media standards, workflow, and technologies used for routing, switching, encoding, and audio processing.
- Familiarity with core routing and switching, including basic configuration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of IP Networking Protocols like IGMPv2/v3.
- Awareness of SMPTE standards for video production, such as ST-292M, ST-424M, ST-2110, and others.
- Ability to work independently and think creatively to solve problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
