Project Electrical Engineer - Power Generation

About the Role
As a Project Electrical Engineer, you may have the opportunity to function as a technical expert and may have project lead and/or administrative responsibilities on assigned Conventional Power Generation Projects and Teams. You will develop electrical drawing deliverables, perform complex engineering calculations, create equipment specifications, and support construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical drawing deliverables including:
- One line and three line diagrams
- Electrical motor schematics, breaker control schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Power cable sizing and cable schedules
- Perform complex engineering calculations such as:
- Load flow, short circuit, motor starting (ETAP or SKM)
- Arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM)
- Protective relay settings
- Battery and charger sizing
- Develop electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.
- Create man-hour budgets and schedules for projects and proposals.
- Attend on-site meetings, investigate existing conditions, interface with clients, and provide support during construction.
- Extensively use Microsoft Office, ProjectWise, electrical engineering software (ETAP), and Computer-Aided Drafting Tools (AutoCAD).
- Provide technical guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes.
- Ensure compliance with B&V quality program and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables, perform research, and manage data for engineering work.
- Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Actively delegate tasks to lower-level team members and review their work.
- Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
- Assist with identifying key client interests and drivers, and communicate these to the project team.
- Support business development or pursuit activities and offer other services to clients.
- Provide consultation and guidance as a technical specialist in a particular practice area.
- Mentor lower-level professionals and assist with performance management processes.
- Participate in career planning, learning, and development initiatives.
- Assist with resource management strategy and administrative responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
