Responsibilities

  • Support power generation design projects, including leading multiple design and engineering tasks simultaneously.
  • Design power generation and distribution systems, renewable energy solutions, protection and motor control systems, and balance of plant designs (raceway, lighting, grounding).
  • Perform power system studies, construction and equipment specification development.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support client relationship development and marketing activities (e.g., proposal technical writing, fee builds, work breakdown structure).
  • Serve as engineer of record for power plant systems.
  • Conduct work sessions, project meetings, and construction contract administration.
  • Develop schematic designs and contract documents, including reviewing project documents, writing specifications, and coordinating with other disciplines.
  • Coordinate addenda, requests for information (RFIs), change orders (COs), and job safety analysis (JSAs).
  • Perform QA/QC on the work of other engineers, project coordinators, or designers.
  • Actively participate in our employee-owned culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) recognized by the licensing board for the position’s location.
  • Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYMCAD, PSCAD, PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
  • Experience with three-phase electrical power, protection and control design, system grounding, physical design, lighting, grounding, instrumentation and control, and life safety systems.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • Protection and control design experience, including setting calculations and electronic file development.
  • Instrumentation and Controls experience, particularly with DCS and PLC systems.
  • Field experience, including startup and commissioning.
  • Experience in renewable energy (PV, BESS, etc.) and DER or microgrid projects.
  • Previous experience with an engineering power consulting firm.
  • Willingness to grow into a team lead or section manager role.
