Project Director/Program Manager

About the role

Join a talented team of engineering professionals at Vogt Power International Inc., an industry leader in heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) with both domestic and international customers. This Project Director position is responsible for the overall coordination, execution, and achievement of objectives for major programs or projects valued at greater than $100 Million.

Responsibilities

• Set strategy and master plan to direct major projects, including contract administration, schedule development and maintenance.
• Manage communication of project requirements to functional groups such as project management, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, subcontractors, evaluation, and field operations.
• Oversee project financial reporting to senior management and manage project close-out, warranty efforts, customer, and consortium.
• Ensure consistent, accurate, and timely implementation of key project management concepts (Change Management, Critical Path Method Scheduling, Earned Value) by project management staff.
• Provide feedback and direction to assigned project managers to ensure project management principles are utilized throughout the project life cycle.
• Mentor and develop assigned personnel and establish procedures/workflow processes to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Manage a multi-function team of stakeholders from project management, engineering, manufacturing, testing, operations, service, customers, and suppliers.
• Develop procedures with marketing and engineering to establish project scope, estimates, and budgeting.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate multifunctional project teams to ensure efficient and on-time project completion.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor projects; develop scope of work; prepare construction plans, budget reports, and authorization recommendations.
• Advise and assist internal project teams to achieve project goals and improve quality.
• Ensure timely delivery of progress reports, including monthly performance information and updates.
• Identify opportunities to consistently meet all project deliverables with assigned Project Managers.
• Monitor and track project progress in scope, schedule (SPI), and budget (CPI).
• Submit project status reports to stakeholders and senior management regularly.
• Initiate and conduct reviews for projects at risk or as requested by management.
• Oversee management of all commercial aspects of contracts and change orders to optimize profit potential and minimize risk.
• Support Project Managers and directly participate in resolving disputes with suppliers and customers.

Requirements

• 4-year BS degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management; Master's in Business Management, Construction Management, or Project Management preferred.
• 15+ years' experience in project management and/or construction management of large, multi-discipline, complex projects in power generation and environmental air quality control systems for coal-fired power plants.
• Graduate degree in business or management highly desirable and/or professional certification in contracts, purchasing, or project management.
• Experience with subcontracting or managing construction projects is a plus.
• Ability to lead project management staff in identifying potential change orders and developing negotiation details.
• Experience facilitating communication of key contract commercial terms between project teams, legal, and customers/suppliers.
• Ability to identify and communicate risk mitigation strategies to project and management teams.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills for relationship building and collaborative work.
• Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative.

Pay

The base pay range for this Project Director/Program Manager role is $150,000 - $180,000 annually.
