Responsibilities
- Manage projects in a manner that assures safety, reliability, environmental and human impacts are mitigated while meeting the project goals (including but not limited to: Schedule, Budget, Safety and Overall Quality).
- Create long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
- Delegate tasks on the project to resources, internally or externally, best positioned to complete them.
- Made effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
- Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
- Communicate with executives or the board to keep the project aligned with their goals.
- Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.
- Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change.
- Work with Tallgrass’s various customers, the general public, government agencies and other stakeholders to communicate the project goals and objectives to advance the project from concept to design/engineering to construction and ultimately through realization of operations.
Qualifications
- Education: Project Manager - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction or Project Management, or equivalent from an accredited institution along with 8 years of relevant job experience. Senior Project Manager - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction or Project Management, or equivalent from an accredited institution along with 12 years of relevant job experience.
- Experience/Specific Knowledge: Must have 10 Years of experience in Major Projects environment with direct work experience in engineering or project management of natural gas or hazardous liquid pipeline or facility projects including high-pressure gas and liquid transmission, metering, compression, pump station, storage, truck loading terminals, gathering, treating, and processing. Must have full complement of project management skills including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting. Must possess basic understanding of midstream and downstream projects. Must have experience in executing large midstream pipeline, compressor and pump stations, marine export terminal projects. Must have executed at least one Major Capital Project with a TIC of USD 200MM or more. Must have extensive experience in developing Major Projects with a development portfolio of USD 1 Billion. Must have very strong analytical skills that are required to develop concepts while working in partnership with Commercial. Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes. Must have prior experience in leading Project Controls; cost and schedule management tools, and successfully implemented them. Must have lead Cost Control management and extensive reporting background to upper management is required. Must have advanced experience in using Primavera for schedule development, tracking, and control purposes. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to business segment leaders and to internal and external customers. Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing large projects, and see projects to completion while maintaining strict confidentiality (as necessary). Must possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices, and processes relate to the Pipeline business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers. Understanding of basic economic analysis as it pertains to project justification. Ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship (subordinate/manager). Solid leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage projects(s) that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels. Working knowledge of applicable regulations and agencies such as DOT, OSHA, and various state counterparts. Familiarity with DOT, NEC, ASME, API, and ASTM and other specifications, standards, and recommended practices typical in the natural gas or hazardous liquid transportation industry. Proficient in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
