About the role
RK&K is seeking a Project Designer to join our Energy and Corrosion team in our Williamsport, Pennsylvania Office. The ideal candidate will have four (4) + years of project design experience within the natural gas or related industry.
Responsibilities
- Produce technically accurate, clean, and high-quality drawings for a variety of energy and corrosion projects.
- Prepare, organize, and support the development of construction documents and multi-discipline drawing sets.
- Review and incorporate specifications, submittals, and client standards into design packages.
- Communicate effectively with project teams and clients to ensure alignment on project requirements.
- Support and promote quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes to minimize design errors and enhance deliverable quality.
- Research, interpret, and apply regulatory requirements and client design guidelines.
- Aid project managers with design-related tasks, including basic calculations, analysis, cost estimate inputs, and review of technical documents.
- Participate in internal and client meetings, presentations, and design reviews.
- Collaborate closely with owners, engineers, designers, project managers, and contractors throughout the design process.
Requirements
- Four (4) + years of project design experience within the natural gas or related industry.
- Experience in pipeline alignment sheets and well pad layout/grading.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with Pennsylvania Erosion and Sediment Control General Permits (ESCGP-4).
- Experience with erosion and sedimentation (E&S) control and stormwater management design including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.
- Strong ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Clear ability to communicate and interpret technical information.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with natural gas distribution or transmission design.
- Familiarity with CFR Part 192 regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of conventional construction and trenchless installation methods.
- Experience supporting the design of natural gas facilities, including regulator stations, gate stations, or inline inspection facilities (layout).
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, and ESRI software.
- CAD or technical drafting/design certifications or training.
