Project Designer
Responsibilities
- Understands and consistently executes all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
- Prepares schematic designs that optimize design solutions and plans with responsibility for presentation drawings, models, and narratives.
- Understands overall project goals and constraints, including client values, construction and design budget limitations, and schedule requirements.
- Evaluates design alternatives based on site and code requirements.
- Applies knowledge of building technology, building materials, construction methods, costs, and code to the design process.
- Understands and responds to technical implications and design decisions.
- Prepares client presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions.
- Participates in marketing opportunities and develops successful client relationships for continuing business.
- Uses graphic storytelling to advance the project delivery and scope.
- Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
- Participates and collaborates in internal design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups and external community engagements.
- Demonstrates strong and effective communication and direction which inspires high team performance and design ideas.
- Mentors staff.
- Collaborates effectively with partners and consultants throughout the schematic and design development phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required.
- 8-10+ years of professional experience.
- LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
- Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation.
- Preparing for ARE and active involvement in AXP.
- Proficiency in BIM, Building codes, Site analysis, Preliminary design studies, Contract documents, Field measurements, Life safety requirements, Specifications, Construction contract administration, Graphic storytelling, Sketching, Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D production software, Advanced Revit, Conceptual modeling tools such as Rhino and Grasshopper, Microsoft Office / Adobe Suite, Visualization tools such as Enscape and VRay, Physical modeling tools such as 3D Printing and Laser cutting, Presentation tools such as InDesign and Photoshop, Environmental Analysis software such Ladybug and Climate Studio.
Qualifications

Pay
The annual pay range for this position is between $88,400 and $117,800 commensurate with qualifications.
