About the role
Join a pioneering climate start-up focused on public curbside electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The Project Designer role involves strategically planning and executing our unique model of curbside charging deployments, covering design, permitting, and construction management in the Northeast and supporting projects nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of curbside charging infrastructure projects from concept through completion, including design, permitting, and construction management.
- Manage deployments in key Northeast project areas and support broader national deployments as needed.
- Collaborate with city officials, project stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to advance projects.
- Conduct site visits and coordinate meetings with permitting agencies, contractors, and utilities for sign-offs.
- Maintain and develop project tracking and documentation tools.
- Build and sustain productive, long-term relationships with stakeholders while proactively managing permitting, technical, and scheduling requirements.
Requirements
- Background in architecture, urban planning, or a closely related field with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of urban design and build projects, preferably in urban rights-of-way, that have been physically built and are in use.
- Proficiency in digital design and drawing tools such as Illustrator or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with building codes, zoning requirements, and urban design standards.
- Experience working with trades and contractors during construction and sign-off phases.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously with precision.
- Strong relationship-building skills and proactive approach to project management.
Qualifications
Experience deploying EV charging is not required, but candidates should demonstrate expertise in urban design, permitting, and construction management.
Pay
Salary range: $80,000 – $130,000, depending on years of experience.
Schedule
- Hybrid work model: four days in-person at our Brooklyn Navy Yard office (Newlab) and one day remote per week.
- Travel required to key project cities, including Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
