Salary Info: $29.81 to $36.53 per hour ($62K - $76K annually) - Overtime Eligible
Position Summary
Aid or lead sales team members in designing and specifying projects for clients. Responsibilities include programming, space planning, commercial furniture specifications, site visits, and furniture installation drawings. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a positive client experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist or lead in project design and specification.
- Prepare and present client presentations.
- Ensure accuracy of all drawings and specifications before presenting to the selling team or client.
- Show in-depth knowledge of design trends and appropriate product applications.
- Lead consultative selling efforts using Teknion research.
- Prepare and present design contracts, assist with contract management, and serve as a mentor and coach to other design team members.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and manage adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Communicate regularly on assignment status to all parties involved.
- Manage changes and revisions to designs.
- Conduct field reviews during/installation with Project Managers and/or installation crews.
- Serve as a resource for other design team members and account managers for final specification checks.
- Display high-level rendering and presentation capabilities.
- Act as a champion for design team metrics, driving streamlined processes.
Project Designer Specific Responsibilities
- Attend client planning meetings, present plans and information for review and approval.
- Interview clients/end-users and produce programming reports.
- Review sites, conduct measurements, and check plan-to-site adherence.
- Verify existing inventory/product as necessary and produce as-built drawings/specifications.
- Develop and present block/space plans, select and develop color/finish boards, and provide design budgets.
- Manage changes and revisions to designs.
- Manage adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Communicate regularly on assignment status to all parties involved.
General Project Designer Specific Responsibilities
- Programming: Attends client planning meetings, presents plans and information for review and approval; conducts programming by interviewing clients/end-users and producing reports; reviews site, conducts field measurements and plan-to-site adherence checks; verifies existing inventory/product if necessary, produces as-built drawings/specifications.
- Design Development: Develops and presents block/space plans, selects, develops, and presents color/finish boards; provides design budgets for projects; manages daily timesheets; manages actual time against budgets; develops product specifications; verifies specifications against plans; produces order-ready specifications utilizing technology; verifies accuracy; manages changes and revisions.
- Final Design: Creates finished working drawings for specification and installation; validates plans against construction, electrical, and A & D drawing sets; manages adherence to project schedule and budgets; communicates regularly on assignment status to all parties involved; ensures complete and accurate plans/specifications are order ready.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior, Industrial, or Architectural Design and 4+ years’ experience in furniture/office/space planning or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Dealership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes for furniture design required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and CET Designer.
- PREFERRED: Experience with 20/20 technologies, Bluebeam, and Configura.
