About the role

The Project Designer position will be responsible for working with the Conifer Systems Engineering team. This role reports to the Director of Engineering and is based in Houston.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates as a key contributor in a nimble, progressive, and dedicated team planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work for packaged equipment.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements.
  • Works with Project Engineers to develop equipment design drawings.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to project management, providing design input regarding process improvement, reliability, and safety.
  • Demonstrates technical competence in selected equipment sizing and application with regard to cost, value, application suitability, safety, and reliability.
  • Reviews and checks work of coworkers and vendors.
  • Approaches all designs with safety as a top priority.
  • Prepares instruction and operation manuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, preferably followed by a two-year technical school or associate degree; engineering degrees are also acceptable.
  • Strong SolidWorks CAD modeling skills, including routing.
  • Professional SolidWorks experience producing models and shop drawings.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in landfill gas to energy, High BTU/RNG, oil refinery, mechanical industry, chemical process, gas process, and/or technical experience.
  • Understanding of ASME, AISC, OSHA, AGA, and ASTM standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass background check and drug test.
  • Experience communicating accurately and frequently with supervisors, manager, and engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Gas processing using membrane, pressure swing adsorption, and solvent adsorption processes.
  • Gas compression equipment.
  • Flare and thermal oxidizers.
  • Packaged equipment.

Pay

$87,000 - $115,000 per year.

Schedule

This position is a hybrid of office and remote working. No travel is expected with this role.
