About the role
Hyosung HICO is seeking a Project Design Engineer to join our team. This position involves reviewing technical documentation, providing technical support, and participating in customer and internal design review meetings.
Responsibilities
- Review Transformer design packages from bid team and compare with customer specifications to ensure technical requirements and standards are met
- Identify clarifications and deviations to customer specification and insure they are documented properly
- Support sales and engineering on technical discussions with customers
- Participate in customer and internal design review meetings while tracking action items throughout the entire design process. Identify and recommend any design changes to improve competitiveness and ensure consistency of designs for each customer
- Serve as a contact to HICO Pittsburgh on projects related to technical activities and documentation associated with transformer bids and projects
- Review and analysis of factory test reports for transformers and ensure test requirements are met
- Prepare approval design package, including drawings, bill of materials, design documents and test plan
- Act as the liaison between factory design engineers and customers during design stage of transformers
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning
- Select the major transformer accessories, including bushing, tap changer and protective devices meeting customer requirements
- Interface with sub component vendors for resolution of technical problems as necessary
- Provide field support for technical issues at the job site
- Travel to customer project sites and vendor sites as required
- Manage multiple projects at one time
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of Hyosung HICO through interaction with other HICO divisions
- Know Hyosung HICO’s Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and how they impact work
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- 2 or more years of experience in project management, or equivalent education and
- Developed analytical skills
- Strong computer skills, emphasizing knowledge of MS Office
Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess:
- Ability to travel domestic and international up to 20% of the time
- Ability to read, understand technical drawings and material
- Ability to analyze data
- Ability to communicate with others to complete work
- Ability to analyze data and develop accompanying reports
- Ability to maintain relationships with diverse groups including internal and external customers
- Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments as required to perform work

Pay
Salary range: $85,000 - $100,000 annually
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
