About the role

As a senior member of our Firmwide development team, you will lead a variety of dynamic transportation pursuits, primarily focused on projects across RK&K’s current and new service areas. You will perform a wide range of transportation/highway planning and engineering tasks, including developing/analyzing alternative solutions, overseeing talented and professional staff, and leading highway planning and/or design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead transportation planning and/or design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Mentor junior engineering and technician staff on transportation planning and/or design tasks
  • Understand and apply Highway Design Standards, and other highway design manuals and guidelines to transportation projects
  • Produce construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work in a team environment
  • Serve as Project/Program and Contractual Manager on a variety of transportation related projects
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and approval of plans
  • Direct project staff and sub-consultants
  • Serve as liaison between client and firm
  • Participate in Business Development and Marketing to secure future clients and workload

Requirements

BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
15+ years of experience in civil engineering design with a focus in transportation/highway engineering
Professional Engineering Registration (PE) or ability to obtain within six (6) months

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / InRoads/ Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with federal, state, and local government projects

Skills

  • Clear understanding of AASHTO and local state/municipal design criteria
  • Coordination with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff

Pay

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The role can be remote with required travel as needed to the project location.
