About the role
As the Project Controls Sr Analyst - Mission Critical, you will serve as an experienced project controls professional in a planning/schedule role within our Mission Critical (Federal) business solution, supporting both proposals and execution efforts.

- Architecture/Engineering (A/E) and Classified Design Services
- Construction Designer of Record (DOR) Services
- Environmental Services
- Integrated (multi-subcontract) Services
Our typical client base includes the Department of Defense (DOD), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and private companies in the Federal arena. Black & Veatch frequently teams with others in joint venture (JV) roles or through sub/prime contracting arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Act as a "lead person" with potential project team supervisory responsibilities.
- Lead the project control function of a project and influence internal and external clients.
- Facilitate project forecasts and advise the project team or JV partners on matters affecting project execution.
- Support proposal efforts.
- Lead the project controls scheduling team in plan and schedule preparation, interfacing with JV partners or subcontractors as needed.
- Ensure constructability is integrated into the planning process and apply key cost control processes.
Management Responsibilities: Acts in a "lead person" capacity without direct management responsibility for team members.
Requirements
- Four-year Bachelor's degree with six or more years of relevant Cost Control or Planning & Scheduling experience, OR no four-year degree with eight or more years of relevant experience in a Home Office or Field Office.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience with Microsoft Project scheduling for schedules with 1,000+ activities.
- Prior experience in federal government contracting or complex industries such as aerospace, defense, and large-scale infrastructure.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Office Environment: Requires sitting, talking, hearing, keyboard input, and seeing. Occasional travel up to 25% may be required.
- Construction Site Environment: Requires standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, moving, and walking long distances in confined or uneven areas. Ability to work at heights above 5 feet, climb ladders/scaffolds, and work up to a 12-hour shift. May involve exposure to cramped workspaces, extreme temperatures, inclement weather, hazardous equipment, and varying lighting/noise conditions.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be available after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
Pay
Annual compensation ranges for this role (reflecting applicable office locations):
- State of Colorado: $108,262 - $162,371
- State of Minnesota: $103,341 - $154,991
Final compensation is determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, internal alignment, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
