Project Controls Specialist

About the role

The Project Controls Specialist works directly with Engineers, Project Managers, and Construction Managers supporting the engineering and construction of all energy technologies, including Wind, Solar, Energy Storage, Transmission Lines, Substations, Pipelines, and Combined Cycles. This role provides comprehensive financial support and implements project management controls, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, analysis, business process improvement, and month-end project settlement activities. The Project Scheduler oversees all project scheduling activities to ensure contract schedule requirements are met and drives project success through the entire lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and progress project schedules using Primavera P6 Software.
• Prepare monthly reports for construction projects comparing baseline approved schedules to progress schedules, including critical path method, resource loading, cost loading, manpower, submittals, projections of impacts, and recovery plans.
• Ensure accurate accounting treatment and capital postings for capital reporting, variance explanations, and progress reporting against budgets.
• Prepare, issue, and present reports, corrective action plans, and mitigation strategies based on critical path analysis.
• Prepare executive-level reports ensuring write-ups are accurate, complete, clear, and concise.
• Provide scheduling support for all projects.
• Work collaboratively with resources to determine project priorities and work plans to meet corporate objectives.
• Determine necessary procedure and process requirements and coordinate development and implementation for the scheduling group.
• Travel to project sites within North America as periodically required.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 0-3 years’ experience in the utility industry.
• Proven project scheduling, management, and technical skills necessary to develop effective and accurate schedules, coordinate multidisciplinary meetings, and report to management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
