About the role

Your impact Jacobs is looking for an organized and driven Project Controls Professional based in the Western U.S. In this role, you'll maintain project ledgers showing budget line items, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts. You’ll also perform project control tasks to assist the operations team with the success of the project from new project setup through monitoring of cost, schedule, budget, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project financial setup documents.
  • Provide project execution support, as you provide them with weekly financial updates and prepare for and participate in monthly project reviews.
  • Work with them and the operations team to establish and maintain a project work breakdown structure (WBS).
  • Perform weekly financial reviews, identifying and making any necessary corrections.
  • Maintain accurate cost tracking by monitoring budgets against actual costs and forecasts.
  • Prepare procurement forms for subcontract initiation, assist with the subcontractor invoice review process, and track budget, expenditures, and contract terms for all subcontracts (and initiate term extensions and closures when needed).
  • Provide change management support, including maintenance of project change logs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years professional experience in the engineering consulting industry as a project controls professional setting up projects, managing budgets and schedules, and monitoring subcontracts.
  • Experience in using and understanding earned value progress.
  • Experience in all phases of home office engineering.
  • An understanding of accounting fundamentals and practices.
  • Computer skills (Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, working knowledge within Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • An aptitude to learn.
  • Ability to solve a range of basic problems and analyze possible solutions.
  • Perform a range of straight-forward assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cost Management, Engineering, Project Management, Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience working in EcoSys (IPCS), and reporting.
  • Experience with a variety of contract mechanisms (Time & Materials [T&M], Lump Sum, Cost Plus Fee, Unit Price/T&M).
  • Previous experience and understanding of client contracts, bid and proposal documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
