Job Description
The Project Controls Analyst supports project financial performance, budgeting, productivity tracking, and operational reporting across construction projects. This role works closely with the Project Controls Manager, Project Managers, Accounting, and Field Leadership to maintain accurate project data, analyze productivity trends, support forecasting and billing activities, and provide reporting that supports operational and financial decision-making.
- Assist the Project Controls Manager with maintaining accurate project budgets, forecasts, and cost reporting
- Support the Earned Value Management (EVM) process including forecasting, baselining, and earned value tracking
- Cook up with estimating, project management, and accounting teams to ensure budgets and change orders are properly allocated
- Integrate data from estimating, scheduling, design, project management, and accounting systems to generate operational and financial reports
- Track labor hours, quantities, productivity trends, and project performance metrics
- Analyze productivity variances and communicate findings to project teams, field leadership, and management
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to assess project performance and gather operational feedback from field teams
- Support monthly billing preparation and validation across multiple contract types
- Aid in project cash flow reporting, forecasting, and ad hoc reporting requests
- Develop and maintain reporting dashboards, spreadsheets, and project analytics tools
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls, reporting, and operational efficiency
- Maintain accurate project records and reporting documentation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Accounting, Project Management, Planning, and Field Leadership teams
- Perform related duties as assigned by leadership
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Required
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in project controls, accounting, finance, construction operations, or related roles
- Experience with job cost accounting principles and project financial tracking
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Experience within construction, electrical contracting, industrial, or commercial construction environments
- Experience with productivity tracking, forecasting, or project performance reporting
- Experience utilizing project management or accounting software systems
- Experience supporting project teams and operational leadership
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Business, or related field
- Prior to start: Advanced Microsoft Excel training or certifications, Power BI or data analytics related certifications, Project Controls or Construction Financial Management related certifications, Additional accounting, finance, analytics, or operational reporting related certifications
Additional Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting and project financial management principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong computer skills
- Experience with Workday or related accounting/project management software preferred
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to proactively manage responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and leadership levels
- General understanding of building construction and electrical construction processes preferred
- Ability to work independently and within team environments
- Ability to travel to various work locations as required
- Ability to work indoors and/or outdoors in varying environmental conditions, as applicable to the position
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance consistent with company policy and operational needs
