Project Control Analyst

About the role
The Project Control Analyst will support Program Management Teams (Vice Presidents, Program Directors, Program Managers, and Project Leaders) in the financial management of projects and programs. This position requires a positive attitude, ownership mentality, and a focus on accuracy and consistency of data. Teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to work independently are critical for success.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Management Teams to develop, review, and update project and program budgets, forecasts, estimate-at-completion (EAC), and associated reporting and analysis.
- Facilitate contract kick-off meetings to ensure consistency and effectiveness of CostPoint project setup, billing, accounting, and other contractual obligations with financial implications.
- Collaborate with the accounting department on project setup structure and process.
- Set up and maintain CostPoint project workforce to manage labor charges; partner with program management to communicate personnel ceilings and budgets.
- Track personnel spend against budgets as required.
- Monitor and review project and program expenditures for accuracy and consistency; resolve discrepancies or miscoding with the accounting department.
- Review, monitor, and report project financial performance (revenue, cost, margins) and identify potential deviations against budget or forecasts; develop recommendations for corrective action.
- Support subcontractor/vendor cost management lifecycle, including setting up Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, tracking invoicing and payments, and developing backups for subcontractor accruals.
- Review subcontractor invoices for accuracy, timeliness, and completion; collaborate with the Purchasing Department to ensure subcontractor funding aligns with the prime contract.
- Proactively partner with program management to track program risks and challenges and ensure risk mitigation activities are in place.
- Prepare and/or support client status reports, integrated program reviews, and ad-hoc financial requests from clients, internal management, and stakeholders.
- Review and approve client invoices for submission; collaborate with Project Accounting and Billing to resolve unbilled charges and client billing questions.
- Monitor, track, and forecast project spend for labor and non-labor (travel/ODCs); manage labor category spend on T&M contracts with labor category ceilings.
- Collaborate with the Pricing Department and Program Management teams in developing price proposals and cost estimates, including documentation of pricing assumptions and basis of estimates.
- Support audit requirements from federal agencies (DCAA/DCMA/Other) and internal/external auditors.
- Support development or enhancement of project control processes, procedures, and systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
- At least 3 years of experience in a Project/Program Control role for a government contractor, including FFP, T&M, Cost Plus, and Cost-Plus Award Fee contract types.
- Deltek CostPoint experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments and organizational levels.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Pay
The target salary range for this position is $80,000–$115,000. Individual salaries are determined by factors including location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.
