About the role

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to serve as a Construction Inspector on various Transportation projects throughout Indiana. The position reports to the Project Supervisor or Resident Project Representative.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction observation and inspection on a variety of Transportation projects.
  • Interact with clients, contractors, and the public in meetings and other communication forms.
  • Provide documentation of construction progress through daily reports, status reports, and other forms of data reporting.
  • Inspect work of contractors and document project progress and quality of work.
  • Measure and calculate quantities of materials.
  • Perform material testing.
  • Must be INDOT certified technician.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of transportation construction and quality control practices.
  • Knowledgeable in Indiana Department of Transportation, Indianapolis Department of Public Works, or other governmental agency specifications, standards, and inspection requirements.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects such as testing equipment and materials samples.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and navigate steps, stairs, and ladders.
  • Ability to work in hazardous environments and use required Personal Protective Equipment.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Graduate.
  • Certification/License: INDOT certified technician.
