About the role
GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to serve as a Construction Inspector on various Transportation projects throughout Indiana. The position reports to the Project Supervisor or Resident Project Representative.
Responsibilities
- Perform construction observation and inspection on a variety of Transportation projects.
- Interact with clients, contractors, and the public in meetings and other communication forms.
- Provide documentation of construction progress through daily reports, status reports, and other forms of data reporting.
- Inspect work of contractors and document project progress and quality of work.
- Measure and calculate quantities of materials.
- Perform material testing.
- Must be INDOT certified technician.
Requirements
- Knowledge of transportation construction and quality control practices.
- Knowledgeable in Indiana Department of Transportation, Indianapolis Department of Public Works, or other governmental agency specifications, standards, and inspection requirements.
- Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and other technical documents.
- Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects such as testing equipment and materials samples.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain and navigate steps, stairs, and ladders.
- Ability to work in hazardous environments and use required Personal Protective Equipment.
Qualifications
- H.S. Graduate.
- Certification/License: INDOT certified technician.
