About the role

Toole Design is a purpose-driven team of engineers, planners, landscape architects, and urban designers who believe streets should work for everyone. We are a growing firm with a focus on delivering multimodal transportation solutions across various contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of transportation infrastructure projects
  • Develop construction documents, details, cost estimates, specifications, and concept plans
  • Use tools like MicroStation OpenRoads for production work
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Mentor junior staff and support a culture of technical excellence

Qualifications

  • P.E. license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 5+ years of experience developing roadway/highway construction documents
  • Strong background in civil engineering (roadway and geometric design, 3D modeling, accessible design)
  • Experience with signing and pavement marking, including MUTCD standards, as well as familiarity with PROWAG requirements
  • Proficiency in MicroStation OpenRoads
  • Experience with permitting, agency coordination, construction documentation, and cost estimating
  • Bonus skills: Experience with multimodal transportation projects and multidisciplinary coordination (utilities, ROW, signals, etc.), familiarity with local agencies such as MDOT SHA, VDOT, or DDOT

What You Bring
