Project Civil Engineer

About the role

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is a rapidly growing construction management and engineering company within the Quanta Services family of companies. QISG seeks project civil engineering professionals to support large-scale engineering and construction projects throughout North America by providing civil site design solutions to their construction partners and clients.

Responsibilities

• Design civil site, access, and drainage systems for large-scale energy substation and transmission projects using design-build delivery methods
• Develop civil construction specifications, assist in development of cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules
• Support substation and transmission line physical design consisting of layout, conduit, grounding, site and work pad development, and erosion and sediment control
• Perform basic stormwater calculations to size culverts, ditches, and stormwater retention/detention facilities using stormwater modeling software
• Interface closely with project-level and senior leadership personnel within the company, including geotechnical, geological, structural, transmission line, substation, and civil engineering, GIS, and construction management team members
• Participate in oversight and management of subcontractor activities involved in drainage and grading designs and/or operations
• Develop written reports and/or provide verbal communication of information in a professional and appropriate manner
• Occasional site visits to project sites located throughout North America
• Participation in sector focused professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events
• Work under supervision of Engineering Director and/or a Senior Engineer in a professional office setting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
• Minimum five (5) years of civil design experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
• Ability to work with moderate supervision and maximum efficiency in a small or medium size office setting
• Experience in electric utility design (substation and transmission line - 15 kV to 500 kV)
• MicroStation Inroads design experience
