About the role
Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is a rapidly growing construction management and engineering company within the Quanta Services family of companies. QISG seeks project civil engineering professionals to support large-scale engineering and construction projects throughout North America by providing civil site design solutions to their construction partners and clients.
Responsibilities
- Design civil site, access, and drainage systems for large-scale energy substation and transmission projects using design-build delivery methods
- Develop civil construction specifications, assist in development of cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules
- Support substation and transmission line physical design consisting of layout, conduit, grounding, site and work pad development, and erosion and sediment control
- Perform basic stormwater calculations to size culverts, ditches, and stormwater retention/detention facilities using stormwater modeling software
- Interface closely with project-level and senior leadership personnel within the company, including geotechnical, geological, structural, transmission line, substation, and civil engineering, GIS, and construction management team members
- Participate in oversight and management of subcontractor activities involved in drainage and grading designs and/or operations
- Develop written reports and/or provide verbal communication of information in a professional and appropriate manner
- Occasional site visits to project sites located throughout North America
- Participation in sector focused professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events
- Work under supervision of Engineering Director and/or a Senior Engineer in a professional office setting
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
- Minimum five (5) years of civil design experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to work with moderate supervision and maximum efficiency in a small or medium size office setting
- Experience in electric utility design (substation and transmission line - 15 kV to 500 kV)
- MicroStation Inroads design experience
