About the role

Arcadis is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team in the Denver, Colorado or Salt Lake City, UT area. This position supports multiple sectors, including mining, oil and gas, and rail. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model, with 1–2 days per week in the office, and may travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and plan hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, watershed evaluations, and earthwork site design
  • Prepare permit/construction-level drawings and details
  • Engineering design, permitting, proposal and report writing, and construction-phase field engineering
  • Prepare technical specifications and reports for civil and environmental permitting
  • Plan, design, and oversee industrial solid waste landfills, wastewater collection and treatment systems, impoundments, channels, levees, drainage systems, stormwater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, roads, and other civil/environmental infrastructure
  • Interface directly with clients and contractors and manage all aspects of project delivery
  • Field assignments, including assisting with construction and inspections

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer, with willingness to obtain reciprocity in western states such as Colorado, Wyoming, and Arizona
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR-55, PondPack, HEC-RAS)
  • Familiarity with government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting mining, utilities, rail, or pipeline protection projects and coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Prior experience in land development such as site layout, stormwater management, grading, and erosion and sedimentation controls
  • Understanding of land development, erosion and sediment controls, road design (particularly Haul Roads and Forest Service Roads), river restoration, and stormwater permitting

Pay

The salary range for this position is $87,912–$146,520. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
