Project Asst. -Summit Steward-MERE - P. Palmiotto [Work Study]

Job Description

The student in this position will conduct stewardship duties on Mt. Monadnock during weekend days or other high use days through the year (10hr/wk).

• In person discussion with hikers on topics such as hiker preparedness, safety, Leave no trace principles, ecology and history of the mountain as well as the fragility of the summit vegetation (8 hr /wk).
• Formal programing at visitor center or on the trail or summit could be offered.
• Web site updates, environmental education material creation, writing of technical bulletin and info-graphics as well as grant writing could be other duties of the position (2 hr/wk).

Qualifications

Outgoing, positive individual with strong group dynamic skills who enjoys climbing mountains, talking to people. Has strong desire to learn and share what they have learned about the mountain’s cultural and ecological stories. Strong writer and communicator is desired.
