Job Description
- Purchase, maintain, repair and replace environmental and scientific equipment and instrumentation as needed.
- Track and record all expenditures related to equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and instrumentation for internal and student/faculty reference.
- Cook up equipment and instrumentation loans among all faculty and students.
- Train students in effective and safe use of all equipment and instrumentation.
- Update all apps, software, operating systems and firmware as needed.
- Produce and update guides to lab, herbarium, and equipment and instrumentation use if needed.
- Develop and maintain Lab and Herbarium Home Page and Equipment Guide using LibGuides platform.
- Implement regular equipment maintenance program, such as recharging batteries, replacing out-of-date reagents and testing equipment function.
- Maintain and repair plant, fungi, and lichen specimen collections.
- Audit collection status and maintain proper filing of specimens by family and species.
- Regularly update specimen names according to current taxonomic standards.
- Provide appropriate storage, handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
- Assure that the Lab and Herbarium work spaces are clean, safe, and compliant with state and federal safety regulations.
- Perform other duties, other activities as assigned by supervisor (the ES Administrative Director).

- Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, desire to engage with faculty and students in service role.
