Project Assessor (structural focus) (BVTA)
About the role
This role involves conducting various types of building assessments and preparing detailed written reports. The Project Assessor will also communicate with local authorities and travel to client sites across the US.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site assessments and prepare written reports describing onsite assessment findings.
- Review previous assessment reports and historical records to identify property use and surrounding conditions.
- Contact local Building, Zoning, and Fire Departments to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Communicate with property owners, tenants, and service providers to gather necessary information.
- Observe and document property’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, structures, and foundations.
- Prepare photographic documentation and write reports based on collected data.
- Manage project plans and assess technical needs based on project specifics.
- Interact with clients and provide technical guidance for specialized projects.
- Meet performance objectives for productivity and report quality.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in a related field, at least three years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license with a clean record is required, along with a corporate credit card for travel expenses over $2,000 annually. Proficiency in computer software and tablets is essential.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three years of related experience.
- Valid driver's license with no significant MVA points/violations.
- Current Registered Architect or Professional Engineer preferred.
- Proficient in operating a computer, word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work independently.
- Physical demands include walking, standing, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and operating a computer and electronic tablet.
