Project Architect/Job Captain - Duluth, MN
About the Role
Pope Design Group is seeking a passionate, ambitious, and thoughtful Project Architect or Job Captain to make a positive and impactful difference in our community through the spaces we create. We are a multi-disciplinary firm of creative architects and interior designers partnering with clients across the country to create environments that enhance lives.
This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with integrated design teams on healthcare, civic, and/or education-related projects of various sizes and complexities. You will work closely with the Project Manager and an integrated team of design professionals, developing design concepts into high-quality documents for our clients in a client-focused, collaborative, and flexible environment.
Responsibilities
- Work on a variety of project types, including tenant improvements, new construction, and renovations of existing buildings.
- Drawing production work through all project phases.
- Coordinate drawings with specifications prepared by other team members.
- Consultant coordination, including M/E/P, structural, furniture, and AV.
- Provide technical oversight for project teams and make independent decisions for projects.
- Coordinate project documentation with clients, consultants, contractors, and project team.
- Review and implement building codes, ensure code compliance and constructability.
- Coordinate with QA/QC team and implement recommendations.
- Participate in all aspects of construction administration duties, including site visits, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, change orders, and review of pay applications.
- Receive project direction from the Project Manager and Designer; may lead some projects.
Client Interface
- Regularly communicate with clients to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentations.
- Work with Project Manager, Designer, and client to confirm objectives and formulate options.
- Prepare and conduct design and technical presentations for team and/or clients.
- Participate in marketing efforts.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the industry, with experience leading project documentation and coordination.
- Experience in all phases of architectural design (SD-CA) and the ability to coordinate all aspects of assigned projects.
- Experience with healthcare, civic, and education projects is preferred.
- Attention to detail, good organizational skills, excellent follow-through, ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Licensure preferred but not necessary.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 annually. Salary may be impacted by candidates' years of experience, specific market sector experience, licensure, and/or potential involvement in business development.
