About the Role

We are seeking a creative, innovative, and talented Project Architect to join our Healthcare team in Columbia, SC. This role involves providing limited, high-level production supervision for work with complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination. You will assist the Project Manager with all aspects of multiple small to large-scale projects and coordinate efforts to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary client liaison to manage schedules, budgets, and scope of work to completion and client satisfaction.
• Actively manage client budgets, schedules, programs, project communications, documentation, and office administrative tasks.
• Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals.
• Supervise the preparation and accuracy of contract documents.
• Incorporate applicable codes, construction techniques, and cross-discipline coordination into projects.
• Supervise and/or perform site observations, including recording and reporting existing conditions and construction progress.
• Address problems and questions during construction.
• Maintain project cost control.
• Handle external communications, including calls and correspondence with clients, officials, and contractors.
• Write reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations.
• Supervise and perform building code reviews and prepare applications.
• Make major design decisions involving spatial, aesthetic, and material detailing.
• Document project progression through correspondence and memos.
• Follow projects through approvals and construction.
• Initiate contact with clients and town officials.
• Exercise professional judgment in contractual liability matters.
• Make public presentations and act as a thought leader.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent.
• Registered as a licensed architect.
• 8-12 years of experience as an architect.
• Experience leading a project team.
• Knowledge of estimating project needs and translating them into budget hours/costs.
• Ability to monitor budgets and adjust tasks to stay on track.
• Leadership skills to guide a team through task sequences and meet milestones.
• Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, and Bluebeam.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Newforma software.
• Excellent grasp of building technology fundamentals.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant codes, operations, processes, and trends.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively.
• Ability to provide clear direction and demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Preferred Skills

• Master of Architecture.
• Experience with Newforma Project Center and/or Newforma Project Analyzer.
• Experience with Microsoft Project.
• Additional relevant certifications (e.g., construction administration, interior design, LEED/Green Globes sustainability).
