Project Architect - Healthcare - Columbia

We are seeking a creative, innovative, and talented Project Architect to join our Healthcare team in Columbia, SC. This role involves providing high-level production supervision for complex projects, assisting the Project Manager with small to large-scale projects, and coordinating administrative and technical efforts to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution.

Responsibilities

• Provide limited, high-level production supervision for projects with complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination needs.
• Assist the Project Manager with all aspects of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with schedules, budgets, and scope of work.
• Serve as the primary client liaison to ensure project completion to the client’s satisfaction.
• Actively manage client budgets, schedules, programs, project communications, documentation, and team assignments.
• Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals.
• Supervise the preparation and accuracy of contract documents, incorporating applicable codes, construction techniques, and cross-discipline coordination.
• Perform and/or supervise site observations, including recording existing conditions and construction progress.
• Address problems and questions during construction, maintaining project cost control.
• Handle external communications, including calls and correspondence with clients, officials, and contractors.
• Write reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations.
• Supervise and perform building code reviews and prepare applications.
• Make major design decisions involving spatial, aesthetic, and material detailing.
• Document project progression through correspondence and memos, and follow projects through approvals and construction.
• Initiate contact with clients and town officials, exercising professional judgment in contractual liability matters.
• Make public presentations and act as a thought leader.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent.
• Registered as a licensed architect.
• 8-12 years of experience as an architect.
• Experience leading a project team.
• Knowledge of estimating project needs and translating them into budget hours/costs.
• Ability to monitor budgets and adjust tasks to stay on track.
• Leadership skills to guide a team through task sequences and meet milestones.
• Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Newforma software.
• Excellent grasp of building technology fundamentals and relevant codes, operations, and trends.
• Strong time management and ability to prioritize competing tasks.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to provide clear direction and demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Preferred Skills

• Master of Architecture.
• Experience with Newforma Project Center and/or Newforma Project Analyzer.
• Experience with Microsoft Project.
• Additional certifications in construction administration, interior design, or sustainability (e.g., LEED/Green Globes).
