Project Architect - Facilities

About the role

A fully competent architectural professional responsible for managing detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity. You will independently handle projects or segments of larger projects, plan and coordinate work, and collaborate with senior project managers to gain experience on more complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate roofing systems, facades, waterproofing assemblies, windows, and sealant systems.
• Develop repair and rehabilitation solutions for roof and building enclosure systems.
• Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, and permitting documents.
• Produce roof replacement, reroofing, facade, and waterproofing designs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and accessibility requirements.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards; participate in pre-task planning and report safety issues.
• Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.
• Maintain consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
• Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
• Prepare proposals and reports for projects of varying complexity; perform quality control reviews of others' proposals.
• Evaluate complex laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Serve as a technical adviser to junior-level project team members.
• Interact directly with clients and project teams to develop scope of services and communicate progress, findings, and recommendations.
• Write and prepare routine and complex engineering/architectural reports detailing services, findings, and recommendations.
• Participate in marketing, sales, and business development.
• Supervise graduate, field, and project architecture staff.
• Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent degree (and experience) applicable to becoming a Registered Architect.
• RA license preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in roofing and building enclosure design.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), REWC (Registered Exterior Wall Consultant), RBEC (Registered Building Enclosure Consultant), or other industry-recognized certification.
