Project Architect
Description
The Mayor Justin M. Bibb is building a team to join the Mayor's Office of Capital Projects to deliver a modern, responsive City government and advance critical investments in Cleveland’s facilities and infrastructure. The Project Architect plays an important role in planning, designing, constructing, and preserving public assets that support City operations and improve quality of life for our residents.
Examples of Duties
- Performs architectural services required in the construction, alteration, and addition to buildings.
- Plans, supervises, and directs assigned personnel.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Architecture: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from a National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB) accredited four-year college or university required.
- Experience: One year of full-time paid experience as a registered Architect required.
- Licensure: Must be a registered Architect in the State of Ohio.
- License: Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required.
- Software Knowledge: Must have a working knowledge of AutoCad 2-D and Microsoft Office Suite programs. A working knowledge of SharePoint and project planning software as well as good written and verbal communication skills are preferred. Good organization skills to handle multiple projects at the same time is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership: Ability to lead and coordinate the planning, design, and execution of assigned capital projects on behalf of the City of Cleveland.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, including experience with programming, planning, RFP development, design development, consultant coordination, construction administration of capital projects designed in-house or through outside resources.
- Scope and Scheduling: Ability to manage project scope, schedules, budgets, contracts, and quality standards.
- Coordination: Experience coordinating with outside architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Construction Documents: Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, applicable codes, and permitting requirements.
- Delivery Methods: Experience with Design/Build, Progressive Design/Build, and Construction Manager at Risk project delivery methods.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that may include architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, construction professionals, government officials, and community stakeholders.
- Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide projects from concept through completion.
- Stewardship: Commitment to design excellence and the responsible stewardship of public resources.
