Project Accounting Manager
About the role
Play a critical role in overseeing accurate, contract-compliant billing and financial management across a portfolio of dynamic, client-focused projects. Partner closely with project teams and project managers to ensure strong financial oversight, support operational decision-making, and maintain compliance with contractual and company financial standards.
Responsibilities

- Contribute to the financial success of projects within a collaborative and professional environment
- Work in the Finance & Accounting department reporting to the Senior Project Accounting Manager, Operations along with an assigned Sector Manager & National Practice Lead towards business goals
- Supervise a Project Accountant who will support the Regional Accounting Manager with many of the tasks noted below
- Work as a liaison between Sector and Shared Services
- Align Position goals with Sector goals & Company-wide goals
- Assist Sector leadership to meet annual business goals
- Includes annual PM training
- Travel as needed for business sectors, including business planning & training
- Responsible for overall project maintenance and support for assigned Sector
- Working with project managers on project accounting and billing functions
- Project setup in company accounting software, Deltek
- Contract management and review
- Creation & maintenance of project rate schedules to ensure accuracy
- Provide financial data for project proposals and qualifications
- Communicate project accounting issues effectively
- Research and respond to client inquiries
- Maintain accurate records and assist in ad hoc projects as assigned
- Prepare client billings and manage accounts receivables for assigned Sector
- Work closely with clients to provide invoices, client forms, and certificates of insurance
- Finalize monthly client invoices and supporting documentation
- Ensure all billing transactions are accurately completed and recorded
- Period review of AR and WIP ensuring projects are being billed and collected
- Identify, adjust, and review project forecasts and budget issues with project cost reports to confirm appropriate recognition of cost and revenue
- Variance adjustments
- Contract Management Tab accuracy CO/Supplement entry
- Analyze project performance such as payroll multipliers, revenue, utilization, backlog, labor bookings & bookings factor, AR, WIP and report accordingly
- Provide training to managers on project financials via Wilson & Company Standards
- Train on specific Deltek modules to enhance reporting self-reliance and efficiency
- Support the development and implementation of processes and procedures to enforce compliance with company policies
- Test and implementation of system software upgrades (Deltek)
- Support payroll and Sector to ensure timely posting of weekly timesheets
- Collaborate with team on new content and maintenance of existing training materials
Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting leadership experience
- Strong background in engineering accounting required
- Experience with job costing and WIP reporting
- Deltek Vantagepoint or large ERP accounting system management experience required
- No QuickBooks

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of financial systems and processes
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

$43.00 - $55.00 (Depending on Experience)
Schedule
Minimum 3 days per week in Fort Worth, Texas or Phoenix, Arizona
