About the role
The Project Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial success of construction and project-based work by providing analytical, financial, and administrative support to Project Managers and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers with financial oversight across assigned projects from startup through closeout.
- Affiliate with the preparation, monitoring, and maintenance of project budgets and forecasts.
- Track project costs and revenue, analyze variances, and provide insight to support profitability and decision-making.
- Perform financial analysis related to project performance, trends, and risk.
- Set up and maintain projects in Deltek (Vision/Vantagepoint), including work breakdown structures (WBS), budgets, billing terms, revenue recognition setup, and contract details.
- Ensure project financial data is accurate, timely, and compliant with internal policies and contract requirements.
- Prepare and issue client invoices in accordance with contract terms and approved billing formats.
- Cook with clients, project teams, and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Affiliate with contract reviews, modifications, notices, and correspondence as required.
- Work closely with Project Managers, finance teams, clients, and subcontractors to support project financial health.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and contractual requirements.
- Affiliate with internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and support as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in a financial analyst, project accountant, or similar role within a project-based environment.
- Experience supporting projects in construction, engineering, or infrastructure preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus.
- Familiarity with percentage-of-completion revenue recognition is a plus.
