Project Accountant

Position Summary
The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.
Position Details
- Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
- Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
- Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
- Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
- Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
- Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
- Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred
- 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred
- Strong accounting knowledge
- Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. required
