Project Accountant

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Helps to ensure timeliness and accuracy of the project reports.
• Affixes to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
• Reviews and audits vendor invoices for accuracy and required backup per contract.
• Properly reviews, analyzes, and sets up billing rates and terms per contracts.
• Aids in preparing client invoices.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Follows system controls to ensure data integrity.
• Reviews projects financial data monthly to ensure completeness of the data.
• Aids in gathering data for reporting during the month-end close process.
• Aids in ERP conversion/implementation testing and participation in training sessions.
• Supports management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in operational accounting is preferred.
• Experience working for a general contractor or subcontractor in the construction industry is preferred.
• General understanding of cost accounting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to proof one’s own work as well as the work of others.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

Preferred Experience

• Experience with CMIC strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

• Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
• Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
• Sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
• Occasional lifting (up to 40 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
• Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
