About the role
The Project Accountant will play a crucial role in managing project finances, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in contract management, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue subcontracts and purchase orders in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Review project specifications to support accurate and complete schedules of values.
- Partner with Risk Management to review and approve any subcontractor or vendor revisions to company terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with Project Management to prepare monthly payment applications and required project documentation.
- Ensure project compliance through collection, tracking, and submission of certified payroll.
- Track, enter, and validate all costs related to subcontractors and key suppliers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience required; construction accounting experience preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of Procore, certified payroll reporting, and MBE/WBE tracking is desired.
- Average associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Skills
- Project & Time Management: Manage multiple projects and priorities, adjust quickly as needs shift.
- Organization & Attention to Detail: Highly organized with strong attention to detail across documentation, tracking, and follow-through.
- Financial Acumen: Working knowledge of GAAP and basic construction-related financial processes.
- Communication & Collaboration: Clear, professional communication with both internal teams and external partners.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of core construction project workflows and how projects progress from start to finish.
