Project Accountant
About the role
The purpose of this position is to complete monthly estimates to complete and revenue calculations, reviewing project costs as compared to budget and weekly forecasting. The Project Accountant will assist in monthly closing, inventory reconciliations, audit requests and variance reporting. The Project Accountant will work with the Business Unit Financial Controller, General Manager and Project Managers to ensure the projects are executed successfully.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly estimates at completion (EAC) including preparing the EAC workbook, analyzing, reconciling and review with assigned project manager to facilitate presentation to management team.
- Complete monthly revenue recognition calculation, prepare journal entries and ensure adherence to IFRS 15 contract regulations.
- Review project and facility costs as compared to budget to ensure costs are being allocated properly.
- Forecasting – prepare weekly project forecasts including costs, invoicing and revenue calculations.
- Monitoring project billing milestones and ensure they are being billed and collected in a timely manner.
- Assisting with change order costing and bids & proposals as needed.
- Assisting with review of new contracts to assist with preparation of IFRS revenue recognition memos.
- Assist with providing auditors with contract, EAC and revenue calculation information as needed.
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree (or equivalent) in Finance/Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years in cost accounting, project accounting, or financial & planning analysis.
- Knowledge of GAAP Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Experience with ERP systems, Excel and accounting consolidation software.
- Experience with IFRS 15, over-time revenue recognition, percent complete accounting.
- Experience in a manufacturing accounting environment including inventory, standard costing, labor and overhead burden rates and project accounting.

Work environment
This position requires an onsite presence to perform the essential duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in the office performing work on a computer. Employee will be required to walk and be on the manufacturing floor. Work will be primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion. Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects. Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules. The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
