ChenMoore is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to support the financial success of our civil engineering projects. This role partners closely with Project Managers (PMs) to oversee project setup, budgeting, billing, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.The ideal candidate thrives in a project-based environment and plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely financial information that drives profitability, cash flow, and informed business decisions. Your ability to provide reliable financial insights and maintain strong financial controls directly contributes to project performance and overall company success. ResponsibilitiesProject Financial ManagementSet up new projects in the ERP system, including contract values, billing terms, revenue methods, and budgetsMonitor project performance, including labor, expenses, consultant costs, and profitabilityAnalyze budget vs. actual performance and earned revenueCollaborate with Project Managers to maintain accurate budgets and forecastsEnsure proper project coding and cost allocationBilling & Revenue RecognitionPrepare and process client invoices (time & materials, lump sum, and unit-based billing)Manage progress billing and percentage-of-completion calculationsReview unbilled labor, expenses, and WIP to ensure timely invoicingApply appropriate revenue recognition methods (WIP-based, percent complete, milestone-based)Ensure billing aligns with contract terms and client requirementsSupport retainage tracking and billingAccounts Receivable SupportMonitor accounts receivable and assist with collectionsReview aging reports and escalate issues when necessaryPartner with Project Managers to support collection strategies Required Qualifications3–7 years of relevant experience in a project-based accounting environmentExperience in civil engineering, architecture, or professional services preferredStrong understanding of:Project accounting principlesBilling methods (percent complete, time & expense, not-to-exceed, etc.)Job costing and budgetingAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelPreferred QualificationsExperience is preferred over a degree, but degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is welcomeExperience with Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, Deltek Ajera, or similar ERP systems ChenMoore's High Standard of ProfessionalismChenMoore is a company which is unique in its commitment to quality.
