Project Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Project Accountant I, II, or III in Atlanta, GA to join our team. This role involves supporting project teams, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely processing of project-related documents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in verbal and written communication with customers, suppliers, and employees to ensure needs are met and conflicts resolved.
• Process invoices for routing, coding, approval, and payment in accounting software.
• Track and record field office preparations, including posting statutory notices, notice of commencements, first aid kits, injury re-post forms, OSHA logs, and water supply orders.
• Set up and maintain job logs, job files, and job coding with the project team.
• Process employment applications and assist in other employment activities.
• Assist the project team in submitting time for payroll purposes.
• Prepare, process, and file job-related correspondence and invoices.
• Process waivers, contract forms, change orders, notices to subcontractors, changed conditions, construction schedules, and purchase orders.
• Perform administrative tasks such as handling mail, managing office supplies, preparing meeting minutes, answering phones, and filing.
• Attend staff meetings and company functions, including those outside normal work hours.
• Provide project status updates and facilitate communication between the field and corporate office.
• Establish original estimates and contract items in the accounting cost system.
• Ensure job cost reports and accounts receivable reports are accurate at all times.
• Maintain proper classification of project cost system information and supporting records.
• Identify and escalate issues in the project cost system to accounting management and the Project Manager.
• Enter financial paperwork into the accounting system to ensure timely and accurate job cost information in compliance with BCC JSox and audit requirements, including owner change orders, owner billings, budget transfers, job cost transfers, and subcontractor pay requirements.
• Collaborate with key team members to process monthly billings to owners and run projected final cost reports.
• Process subcontractor monthly pay applications via the BCC online system and ensure all supporting documents are correct.
• Follow up with subcontractors to obtain missing documents for timely payments.
• Maintain the subcontractor/vendor purchasing register and verify compliance documents such as insurance certificates and lien waivers.
• Present yourself professionally to enhance the reputation of Batson-Cook Company.
• Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the supervising Project Manager or Superintendent.
• Communicate and reinforce the Company’s vision, mission, and values.
• Be willing to travel if required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from a two-year college or university and 2-8 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
