Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within the RN scope
- Assess and evaluate patient needs
- Administer medications and change dressings
- Monitor vital signs and document patient conditions
- Utilize therapeutic communication to maintain a safe environment
- Identify nursing problems and participate in performance improvement activities
- When acting as charge nurse:
- Oversee daily operations
- Assign staff based on acuity
- Serve as a clinical resource
- Respond to requests promptly
- Educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patient care goals
- Assess patient care needs, implement physician orders, monitor and communicate patient status
- Promote a therapeutic environment aligned with hospital mission and vision
Requirements & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse from an accredited school
- Licensed with the Tennessee Board of Nursing
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
- At least one year of clinical nursing experience preferred
