About the role
Southern Nuclear Operating Company's corporate Fleet Plant Support Department provides support for the Southern Nuclear Fleet. We are seeking engineers with experience in Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, and/or Cable Monitoring Programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in the aforementioned program(s).
- Ensure code/regulatory compliance, identify industry best practices, develop/maintain fleet procedures, participate in industry working groups, and troubleshoot problems.
- Support ERO duties if living within 1 hour of one of the following locations: Plant Farley, Plant Hatch, Plant Vogtle, or Corporate HQ in Birmingham.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, or Professional Engineer license, is required.
- Mechanical or Materials Engineering discipline is preferred.
- Strong technical background in engineering and working knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to the applicable programs.
- Three (3) years or more of application and experience with programs such as Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, and/or Cable Monitoring Programs is desired.
- Five (5) years or more of application and experience with applicable programs is preferred.
- Proficiency in interpretation of system/component/isometric drawings is preferred.
- Nuclear power site station experience is preferred.
- Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering is preferred.
Qualifications

- Initiate, coordinate, and oversee multiple complex projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Adapt to changing demands and priorities.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with counterparts at each nuclear plant site.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Self-starter who performs tasks with little supervision or oversight.
- Maintain unescorted access to all SNC facilities.
