Programming Specialist

Department: Engineering • Non-Exempt, Grade VIII • Location: Van Wert, Ohio

About the Role

Produce offline CNC programs for operation of fabrication equipment and production of vehicle assemblies, as well as miscellaneous parts, with regard to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review and interpret instructions, drawings, and work orders for each job.
• Understand and interpret 3D (SolidWorks) models and drawings.
• Utilize CNC code software (SigmaNest) to develop nested and single-part programs for fabrication equipment including routers and punches.
• Work directly with Fabrication Manager to ensure proper flow of miscellaneous/truck production.
• Back-up CNC Programmer on other equipment and software and support for manufacturing tooling/design.
• Troubleshoot machine run errors as related to CNC code.
• Work directly with Production Scheduler to determine optimal nested production quantities for batched items.
• Update and revise programs as needed.
• Implement improvement suggestions to the programming process.
• Keep departmental area clean and orderly.
• Work with Design and Tooling Engineer to implement machine tools.
• Update and revise drawings, parts and assembly models as needed.
• Translate 2D designs into 3D models.
• Support fabrication short run cell machine programming.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and some technical training with CNC machines and programming.
• Prior work experience with CNC programming.
• Proficient with 2D, 3D and CNC code software, preferably CAD, SolidWorks and SigmaNest.
• Demonstrate reasonable and reliable attendance.
• Successfully pass a post-offer drug test, as well as random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol tests thereafter.

• Operate all job-related equipment or machines at acceptable productivity and quality levels.
• Available for occasional travel to other DBCM sites.
• Collaborate and support other DBCM ITSS members and users.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Regularly required to walk, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stand, crouch, and kneel.
• Frequently required to use hand-to-finger dexterity in order to handle objects, tools, and/or controls.
• Occasionally required to stoop or crawl.
