Programmer / AI Engineer

About the role

This is a 6-month temporary hybrid assignment located in North Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will develop AI agents and apply machine learning to enable delivery of robust results from proteomics experiments performed by the client’s proteomics team.

The role involves creating a process—collaborating with team members—to programmatically run R-scripts and Python programs, and to build AI agents and ML tools that expedite decision-making and reduce processing time, transforming data into reported results more efficiently than current manual methods.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI agents and architecture capable of autonomous decision-making.
• Perform feature engineering and develop accurate machine learning models.
• Programmatically execute R-scripts and Python programs to process proteomics data.
• Collaborate with diverse subject-matter experts to integrate AI/ML tools into existing workflows.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, AI Engineering, Data Statistics, or a related field with a focus on AI/ML.
• 1–3 years of professional experience.
• Proficiency in R, Python, and machine learning libraries.
• Familiarity with statistics and large-scale scientific studies.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
