PROGRAMME OFFICER (Citizen-Led Data Generation And Management)

About the role

Nile Basin Discourse (NBD) is seeking a Programme Officer to provide technical expertise and supervision for a consultancy firm implementing activities related to citizen-led data generation and management on water quality, water flows, land degradation, soil erosion, wetland degradation, and climate-related hazards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the collection and analysis of citizen-generated data on environmental issues.
• Facilitate the sharing of data among stakeholders to inform policy and resource allocation decisions.
• Educate citizens on the importance of data collection and its impact on decision-making processes.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the data collection and sharing initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with project objectives and reporting requirements.

Requirements

• At least a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing data collection and analysis projects.
• Experience in working with civil society organizations and community engagement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
