About the role
Nile Basin Discourse (NBD) is seeking a Programme Officer to provide technical expertise and supervision for a consultancy firm implementing activities related to citizen-led data generation and management on water quality, water flows, land degradation, soil erosion, wetland degradation, and climate-related hazards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the collection and analysis of citizen-generated data on environmental issues.
- Facilitate the sharing of data among stakeholders to inform policy and resource allocation decisions.
- Educate citizens on the importance of data collection and its impact on decision-making processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the data collection and sharing initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with project objectives and reporting requirements.
Requirements
- At least a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing data collection and analysis projects.
- Experience in working with civil society organizations and community engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications

- Knowledge of data management and GIS tools.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and policy advocacy.
- Fluency in English.
