Programmatic Physician Supervisor (DOH/PHD#10116832)

Salary: $78.02 - $132.64 hourly / $162,289 - $275,891 annually. This position is a Pay Band C16 and is a continuous posting for ongoing recruitment.

About the role

This position provides medical oversight and leadership to clinical staff in the local public health offices across the Southeast Region, which includes 8 counties and 10 public health offices. The role involves delivering clinical services such as Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder, family planning, sexually transmitted disease management, breast and cervical cancer screening, and tuberculosis care. The position also includes scheduling clinical coverage, providing consultation to public health nurses, nurse practitioners, disease intervention staff, and other personnel, and responding to disease outbreaks.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight and leadership to clinical staff in Southeast Region public health offices.
• Perform clinical services including MAT, family planning, STD management, cancer screening, and tuberculosis care.
• Schedule office hours for clinical coverage as needed.
• Consult with public health nurses, nurse practitioners, disease intervention staff, and other public health personnel.
• Respond to disease outbreaks and oversee appropriate public health responses.
• Conduct regular chart reviews and follow up on results.
• Oversee and evaluate subordinate staff, including the Regional School Health Advocate, School Mental Health Advocate, Nurse Epidemiologist, and Nurse Practitioner(s).
• Travel to perform clinical duties and conduct outbreak investigations.
• Communicate via phone and email to provide clinical oversight and address specific clinical questions.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree with licensure and certification to practice in New Mexico.
• Two (2) years of experience relevant to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Willingness to work in office settings, clinics, and conduct home visits as needed.

Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure/certification requirements and/or direct experience totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
